No save option, once you complete a stage you can't go back to re-play it. This can be compounded by completing one stage poorly, causing you to really struggle in stage X+1 and making stage X+2 impossible. It is possible to complete a stage but not be able to complete the next stage due to too high trace level. You need to complete each level at perfect or near-perfect because your status carries over.
